Tough arms and abs Pilates workout

This is a mat-based class focused on exercise sequences to strengthen our arms and abdominal muscle

This class is based in sitting, four-point kneeling and on our backs. There are some tough movements included in the class so please only do the exercises you feel safe and comfortable to do.

This class includes:

  • Sitting – cleopatra with arm circles
  • Bow and arrow stretch
  • Press up with leg lift
  • Plank into Pike
  • Double leg stretch
  • Modified criss-cross
  • Scissors with abdo prep
  • Sitting tricep dips
  • Roll backs
  • Opposite arm and leg stretch, Rotation stretch
  • Sitting ‘Y’ stretch

We begin the class sitting on the mat with a cleopatra stretch and challenge our arm control adding some arm circles. We then stretch out through our upper back and chest with an arm opening movement. Moving into four-point kneeling we begin to work both our arms and abdominals with a press up and plank exercises.

Down onto our backs on the mat we then bring our arm and leg control together with a double leg stretch. From here we bring in more of an abdominal challenge lifting into abdo prep with our arm movements. We then continue to challenge our deep abdominal core with a scissor movement.

Moving into sitting we challenge our arms with a triceps dip and bring in some abdominal muscle control with roll backs. We then come back down onto our backs on the mat to cool down with an opposite arm and leg stretch, rotation stretch and finish in sitting with a ‘Y’ stretch.
