Tone and stretch

Mat based class focusing on stretching the spine and strengthening core muscles.

This is the fourth class in our ‘Spring calendar‘ series, marking the beginning of the second week of classes aiming to work on toning and strengthening the whole body.

As much as possible I show different options to the exercises so the class is suitable for most levels. This class includes:

  • Cat stretch
  • Press ups
  • Fire hydrants
  • Planks with leg extensions
  • Double leg stretch
  • Bridging with bottom dips
  • Hundreds
  • Glute and hamstring muscle stretches
  • Neck stretches
  • Spine twists

This class starts by warming up in sitting with some gentle spine stretches. Moving into four-point kneeling we continue to stretch the spine with a cat stretch. We work our core and upper body with some press ups and planks in this position.

Moving around onto our backs on the mat with strengthen our core further with double leg stretch and bridging exercises. Working on some abdominal muscle endurance with a hundreds exercise before stretching out our glute and hamstring muscles.

Finishing the class in sitting with some gentle neck and upper body stretches.
