I am enjoying your classes, new to Pilates. Having had a discectomy on s1 and various other bulging discs in November 2019.
My NHS physio suggested Pilates after I had done my 3 weeks session with him.
Any suggestions on which classes i should be doing would be great, at the mo i am attempting most of them.

I have fallen in love with the art!

It’s great you found a love for Pilates! After any surgery it is important to go to a level that suits you and build from there. Particularly if Pilates is new to you. Importantly after this surgery please do work to ensure you maintain a neutral pelvic and core so you do not put too much strain on your spine. You can see some tutorial videos in the Principles of Pilates section. To begin with I’d recommend searching the easier classes (you can find that option on the home page) and see how you go. With all the classes I tend to give options for difficulty of each exercise so do go to the level you feel comfortable with and build your strength. All the best, Vicky

This was just what I needed after a heavy morning working in the garden. Your classes are a lifesaver for me in lockdown. So glad I found you.

Thank you Vicky. This was a really good class for unwinding and relaxing after a day sitting working at the computer. I feel like I’ve had a really good, and much needed, stretch!

Really enjoyed the first class. Did the 27 minute relaxation class. I’ve done an armchair Pilates taster & enjoyed it, but nothing before or since. I’m missing swimming during lockdown & suffer from aches, pains & stiffness every day. I’m only 61 & feel that I shouldn’t be as achy & stiff as I am every day. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I’m not sure I was doing all of the exercises correctly, & will probably try to find a class after lockdown, do that I can make sure that what I do is effective.
    Thank you Vicky.

Hi Judi, thanks for your comment. In answer to your question – It is difficult to give any specific advice but often regular gentle exercises and stretches can help reduce joint stiffness and help improve muscle strength. If Pilates is relatively new to you it is important to work to a level that feels comfortable. Any exercise can take time to feel changes to your body but practicing little and often is often a good way to try and help daily stiffness feelings and aches. If you are unsure about some of the exercises we have some tutorial videos and descriptions of various Pilates exercises which can be found on the website here https://pilateslive.co.uk/pilates-exercises/
      best wishes, Vicky
