Pilates glutes workout

Glute strengthening Pilates class

Enjoy this easy-to-follow glute strengthening class with added hip exercises

In this class we are firing up our glute muscles and working on some hip control.

This mat based class starts in sitting with a few stretches to open up our chests and mobilise through our upper body.

We then work on our sides to engage our glutes and core muscles with side kick and clam movements.

On our backs we then challenge ourselves with some hip control movements including hip twist and one leg circle exercises.

Finishing with some stretches in sitting.

Hi Vicky – your classes are the best! Thank you so much – they have kept me flexible through lockdown in a very small flat. It is an amazing offer to have all this online for free, I really appreciate it. Many thanks, Charlotte

I had a right hip replacement in February and since then have noticed that I have become more stiff and less mobile. I need to build up core strength as well as stretch and increase my movement. Which of your classes would be best for me as an absolute beginner please?

Hi Kathy, exercise can certainly play an important role in getting moving again after this type of surgery. Exercises such as bridging can be a great way to build up you glute and core strength and a tutorial on this exercise can be found here – https://pilateslive.co.uk/pilates-exercises/pilates-exercises-the-bridge/ . You can search classes by length and difficulty so have a look in our ‘easier level’ classes but you may like to try our ‘simple pilates class’ found here https://pilateslive.co.uk/pilates-classes/simple-pilates-workout/ or our ‘super stretchy class’ found here https://pilateslive.co.uk/pilates-classes/super-stretchy-pilates-class/ . Please seek advice if you are unsure about doing any exercises and always work to a level that you feel comfortable with. I hope you find the classes helpful in building up your strength. Best wishes, Vicky

Thanks for the reply. I have done 2 classes so far and have felt better after doing them although my muscles over the hip joint have been a bit sore, still they need to be built up. Will have a look at the others you have suggested .
