Full body movement and control

Pilates class focusing on building strength and control of movement

  • Length: 40 minutes

The class begins in standing then continues down onto the mat on our backs, side and into sitting. Various options of difficulty are demonstrated for many of the exercises so please work to a level that you feel suitable and comfortable for you.

This class includes:

  • Standing book opener
  • Squats with arm pulses
  • Standing combined scissors and hip twist
  • Lunge with arm opening
  • Roll downs
  • Double leg stretch
  • Bridging with leg extension
  • Hundreds
  • Side bend
  • Side lying half moon
  • Leg lift sideways
  • Arm openings
  • Sitting oblique roll backs
  • Tricep dips
  • Half roll backs
  • Dynamic hamstring stretch
  • Glute stretch
  • Sitting book opener and Y stretch

The class begins in standing warming up though our arms and legs. We start by opening out thought our chests with a book opener and introduce some leg strengthening with some squats and combined scissor and hip twist movements. We open out through the upper back a little more with some arm openings in a lunge position. We then mobilise our spines with some roll downs.

Moving down onto the mat on our mats we bring our arm and leg movement together with a double leg stretch and work our core and glutes with a bridge. In this position we work on some abdominal strength with a hundreds exercise. Coming around onto our sides w challenge our upper body and obliques with a side bend. We then come down onto our sides on the mat to strengthen our glutes with a half moon and leg lift sideways.

Into sitting we continue to work on our abdominal strength and control with some obliques roll backs and half roll backs. In sitting we also give our arms a workout with some trip dips. Rolling back down onto our mats on our back we cool down with some gentle rotation, glute and hamstring stretches. Finishing in sitting with a book opener and Y stretch.
