Energising Pilates workout

Get ready for the day with this energising Pilates workout.

We begin by warming up our arms and legs in standing with our ‘toy soldier’ movement.

We then get our legs moving a little more with some hip movements and squats. We continue the class rolling down onto the mat for some press ups!

Then in four point kneeling we challenge our core stability with a ‘superman’ movement. Finishing the class with some great stretches for our spines.

    So glad I found your classes. I’ve been doing Pilates for a couple of years. I find it is a safe and effective practice for me as I have moderate arthritis in one hip and consequent muscle stiffness from time to time! I enjoy your program – shorter classes three times a week means I don’t have any excuses and I feel a little often could be better for me than one long class. Your verbal instructions are really helpful – I don’t need to look at my screen and can concentrate on the move. I’m working through the January program and enjoying it before looking at some of your targeted classes. Thanks!

      Hi Katherine, Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy! Generally speaking the classes will be suitable for your first trimester. However, I can only give general advice, if you have any concerns regarding exercise during your pregnancy please seek advice from a health professional. After your first trimester there are exercises, for example Bridging, that we do not recommend doing after 16 weeks and I would also avoid exercises in double table top and abdominal prep position at this stage of pregnancy. We do have an prenatal series of classes that are suitable throughout pregnancy that you may like to try and they can be found here https://pilateslive.co.uk/pilates-series/prenatal-pilates-series/ (We also have a postnatal series for after your little one arrives!)     I LOVE all these classes. I’ve been meaning to take up Pilates for years, and it’s now become a necessity for health reasons. I couldn’t commit the time, nor can I afford one-on-one classes. So, this is perfect for me – I’m able to take classes daily according to how much time I have spare, and I try and do different things each day. Vicky is lovely; gives clear direction and is very encouraging and helpful in explaining aspects. I’m going to slowly build up strength and try and do more each day.
